HK TRIP DECEMBER 2013

December 2013... School Holidays.
Family trip... destination? Hong Kong.
This is my 3rd time to HK and 2nd time in the past 3 years.
Place is getting really REALLY crowded.
Manage to take some pictures while strolling around.

Oriental Watch Company.
These are almost at every corner.

Models that are hard to come by locally is readily available there.
Huge market in HK.
The Tudor Black Bay.

Giant billboards are everywhere.
Emperor Watch and Jewellery... also another chain of stores that are almost at every corner.

Saw this at JLC boutique at Heritage 1881.
The JLC Master Ultra Thin Perpetual Calendar in Stainless Steel.

Large selection of Audemars Piguet too.
The 40th Anniversary Royal Oak Jumbo.
Really love this one.
Hopefully I can own one in the future.

Plenty of Boutiques and ADs inside Harbour City.

Out and about town.

Feeling like a kid in the candy store.
Was looking forward to visiting the Zenith Boutique.
A small get together was organized with a local collector and 2 Malaysians that happen to be in HK.
Excellent conversations and friendly boutique staff.
Had a great time over a quick dinner and dessert.

HK is indeed a heaven for watch buyers.
There is no such thing as "No Stock"
If you have the money, they will have what you want. No joke.
Of course bargains are harder to come by since HK is mainly catering the China market... read "cash rich"
I got some bad experiences myself there but maybe it's just because they don't see me as a potential buyer.

GURNEY PLAZA PENANG BOUTIQUE SWEEP

During the recent Malaysia Day holidays, I got to visit Penang and was window shopping at Gurney Plaza.
Did a boutique sweep and found out quite a number of watch shops there.

Upon entering, I am greeted by a Rado booth.
Friendly service staff.
Saw the latest ceramic cased models in collaboration with Andy Murray.

They are actually very good looking in person.

Next up is the Rolex and Tudor boutique.
No sign of the new GMTIIc Blue Black.
No sign of the Tudor Black Bay and Pelagos as well.

Tag Heuer Boutique.
Well stocked and full range of watches available.
They also carry the Tag Heuer accessories like jackets, wallets and bags.

Tried out the 41mm Aquaracer Ceramic.
I like it. A very nice watch.

The Carrera Flyback Chronograph.
Also a very beautiful piece.
Caliber 36 is actually the Zenith El Primero caliber 405 (or 405B)

Toywatch boutique.

A booth selling only Cerruti 1881 watches.

Tissot Boutique.

Omega Boutique.
Wide range of selections available.

Spotted the 57 Speedmaster Reissue.
Quite pricey at RM27K+
Nice watch though... powered by a co-axial crhonograph movement with a silicon balance spring.

WatchShoppe.
Carries brands ranging from Tag Heuer, Longines, Mont Blanc, Maurice Lacroix.
Wide range of selection with good discounts.

City Chain.
Offers a myriad of affordable watches from Casio, Seiko and some fashion brands.

Tip Top Time.
Similar to City Chain but not a franchise shop.
Also carry affordable range of watches.

Also got the chance to meet up with 2 good friends in Penang.
Lucky to have caught up with them and have a good and filling breakfast of local "Penang Only" delicacies.

TAIPEI 101 BOUTIQUE SWEEP

Just a collection of pictures I have taken at Taipei 101.
I must say that it is a haven for watch lovers.
Plenty of boutiques and booths for you to browse watches all day.

Huge Omega ad outside the Taipei 101 building.

Most boutiques carry a large selection of their watches and service is generally pleasant.
Almost felt no pressure to have to buy a watch and sales people are more than happy to introduce and explain their products to you except one boutique.
It was a great eye opening experience for me.
